For players who have a beginner to intermediate understanding of music theory and want to focus on translating that information to their ears, this class builds the skillset for learning and understanding songs by ear. 

Topics covered include.

• Order of operations for effective transcribing

• Singing, playing, and identifying major and minor scale degrees

• Singing, playing, and identifying intervals in isolation

• Transcribing melodies in major and minor keys

• Transcribing chords: identifying the chord qualities

• Transcribing chords progressions: identifying chordal functions within a key

• Transcribing the bass motion: how the bass informs the harmony

• Combining bass, harmonic, and melodic information to learn entire songs by ear.
